2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Losing Power dieing out

Asked by GuruLT4GJ Mar 29, 2019 at 06:46 AM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Plus Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Please some one give me some information about
my 2001 Dodge ram 1500 2wd 5.9 L .

So what is going on with my truck is that while I'm
driving I lose power in the dashboard the airbag
light comes on it starts at first to tell me to check
my gauges with none of the gauges are set nothing
off. And when I take off at first after jumping and
charging the battery the truck runs fine just the
other day I made it all the way from freeburg
Illinois to St Louis Missouri probably over 60 miles
before the truck broke down in St Louis. On
December 5th of 2018 I started working on the
truck changing out the heater core what's required
me to take off the whole dash so I finally got the
dash back together and I've added some we'll play
toys to my truck like some lights an extra horn
some led fog lights up front some lights on the top
of my car and a whole sound system so while
hooking up my sound system I happened to notice
that the yellow wire behind my radio is not getting
no power at all and I've been through four different
head units cuz it kept frying my head units.so when
I noticed this and because I was adding more
sound system stuff to the vehicle I had changed
out the top terminals of the old cables while I
noticed there was a problem so I just went ahead
and went and got new cables and put them on so
after that happened the truck seem like it ran fine
then I got in it started up drove around a little bit
truck died again it bogged out sloth power in the
dashI made a loud popping noise when I try to
accelerate. so then I went oreillys asking what I
thought it was and some other people researched
it and I had came up with that the battery was
probably bad I went and bought a new battery a
little bit of more upgraded from the original
because of the stuff I added well once I was done
with that I I drove it around I noticed again it died
out on me and everything bugged-out lost power
same story had it towed to my house I ended up
changing the alternator to a brand new alternator
so I then drove it around probably for an hour and
the side streets and stuff so I didn't have to have it
towed again a freeburg Illinois and then I went out
the next day try to start the vehicle there was no
juice left I've also had O'Reilly's test the battery
charge the battery and I run my own landscaping
company so I need my truck quick because it is
now the season of removing grass.transfer notice
when startup I went and got more information they
told me the one I went again to oreillys they told
me to check all my connections to the battery and
the new battery cables and terminals which is far
as I know I didgot it drove around after I jumped it
with a car did the exact same thing went back to
oreillys they told me it was ignition switch just
changed it out last night drove all the way from
liberg and Watson in Missouri to 44 in Hampton
and before I knew it my truck was sitting on the
side of the road again still is is anybody have any
kind of ideas
