Do I have to research the specifications of each of these units? Does it bolt right in? do the wires make sense? then ya, do it~

The only time it might matter is right after you start the engine. It would take longer to recharge the battery. If your engine is running long enough to recharge the battery fully, you won't notice the difference.

everything matched up fine . the 137a. is a 14v with a colling fan and the 117a. is a 12v. truck will not stay running

How old is your battery? like sendin' a boy in to do a man's job, can be done if given some help~ 7 years old....recycle and get a new one~ bigger alternator probably burned up because your battery was holdin' up the show~

Closer to 14 volts is what you see right after the engine is started. As the battery is recharged, the voltage will increase to 14.5 volts. The voltage regulator will try to maintain the 14.5 volt goal by increasing the field on the alternator. The increased field will produce a higher amperage output. --- The trunk not running is another issue. Is the CEL on?

I thought the vehicle ran off the alternator when engine running and battery just started the engine. and what is the cel

it activates when something "out of limits" occurs, such as no voltage from the O2 sensor, No suction/pressure to the evaporative system, malfuctioning EGR, all systems, air, fuel, spark and timing are fed data to the ECU, which tries to make your motor run right under varying conditions, if conditions are wrong, it cries "uncle, not fair" in the form of a check engine light.~

----or free from like Kragen, Orielly, NAPA, Advance Auto parts...any of the biggies will give you a diagnostic check OBD-II for FREE too~

You got me there Judge. That should be truck - not trunk. Both are correct spellings and I need to proof read better.

They don't even make the Element any more...perfect for hose-down applications such as dog wash and slaughterhouse wash-down practicality, no not no mo~carpets shall be the royal decree now~

Hey, goin' deer huntin'? you have to hang those carcasses somewhere...in the back of a Honda Element, clean up will be a snap~

David Holloway deep in the woods-...my latest oil painting, hasn't had the stomp of approval from the resident Art major (my wife) but thought I'd subject to some criticism...and have fun just puttin; it out there for y'all, "the Compassion Center" Pot Store across from the Police Station here in town has at least eighteen of my paintings, substituting the noble bob marley~
