01' dodge ram 1500 wont move in gear

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2 V8, rear wheel drive. Looking for insight on this problem.... Drove from town, to home parked. Started back up a little later, and as I drove off, only about 20 feet. I heard a loud grinding sound, then it stopped moving. Sound stopped. The truck didn't die. It still cranks without problem. I can shift to Reverse with ease, Neutral has resistance, but I can force it through, and shift from Drive to 2, and 1 easily. The truck does not move in any gear, and sitting in neutral the truck will not roll. Please help

Sounds like your transmission is stuck between gears and not letting it shift. Because if you put it in neutral an it won't roll the Transmission has to be stuck in a gear. You need to have your Transmission looked at. like you said you heard some grinding noise that can't be good. good luck
Any indication that it may be the torque converter?
I appreciate the input. I'll see if I can get a mechanic out to look at it. I changed the gear 1-2 and 2-3 solenoids inside the tranny pan, as well as the governor solenoid.... that didn't change anything. It still doesn't move in any gear
Is you Clutch working alright. If not could be Clutch Pressure plate and throw out bearing.
What was the problem? same thing happened to my truck made grinding sound and stopped engines working fine but no power to wheels.didn’t got time to get it checked. Let me know thank you.
