My husband's check engine light

Asked by Sarah Feb 20, 2017 at 09:34 AM about the 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT LB 4WD

Question type: General

My husband has to have his truck serviced every freaking time he goes to
emissions because his check engine light never stays off.  He'll have it
repaired or whatever, they get the light to go out and error code, and not even
3 weeks later, it's back on again, and he drives it for the duration, and needs
to take it back in to get it off again.  Please help us.  2001 Dodge Ram

If all the repairs are done and the car is running fine then I would have to say the ECM (Main Computer may be the issue, that would need to be checked as well..

But when they do emissions test they can tell how many miles you go since a code as ben reset and require you to drive a minimum amount of miles before bringing it back in for testing. So just resetting the the code, you can't really get away with doing. You have no choice but to get it fixed for emissions testing.
