My 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 v6 will not start. It makes a fast paced clicking noise. I tested the battery and it tests normal and charged. If I get a jump start the truck will start but the gas has to be applied. If I let off the gas the truck dies immediately. If I shift into drive and continue driving for a mile the truck runs as if it were normal. I tested the TPS and it reads a steady decrease from almost 100,000 ohms down to above 20,000 ohms. The number do not jump sporadically. The problem happened once then I jumped it off and drove it home, then it ran correctly for days, even on long trips but now it has happened again and needs a separate jump each time. Any ideas of what this could be?

When did it start, like all of a sudden? I'm thinking a rainstorm and corrosion happened at the connection between the ground lug and chassis....clean this one off steel on steel (or brass, if you're lucky) for an assured 300 amps cold-cranking ability~

there is a chance the 300 amps cannot get thru the positive lug at the starter, don't know exactly where you are (environment) but sounds like it's not so much time on the beach there~

Well there is a lot of corrosion on the positive cable connection. Awhile ago I had a problem with the ground not getting connected. Should I try and replace these cables completely? They are all pretty rough. Where the ground cable meets the chassis looks fairly clean though.

Hillbilly friends, not too many Redneck friends....LOL, just kidding from what I've seen from Brian and his crazy show "how the states got their shapes" just a geographic guess based on this silly show~
