why does it take 30 miles for my truck to shift in drive and over drive

I put in a used transmission and it takes about 30 miles for it to shift in drive and over drive  After that it shifts great

you could also be low on fluid. trans fluid expands when it is heated, which would explain why it does better after driving. 30 miles is a lot. check the fluid with the truck parked on level ground with the engine running in neutral and the parking brake set. the engine needs to be warm, not hot, and cycle the gearshift up and down a couple of times before you check it.

no light on.the guy I bought the trans from told me to change the trans cooler line that hooks to the radiator.Took it off and clean it because O'Reileys cant find one. No help
