02 Dodge ram 4.7 losing power

My truck runs great until I need to
pass on the freeway. The check
engine light flashes and will
eventually come on for about a
week. When I accelerate it
hesitated when I let it the pedal
slightly it kind of catches up. What
could this be? Fuel filter!?

    I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 with the 4.7 liter V8. It is losing power, cutting out on acceleration, gets poor gas mileage and won't restart when i shut it off until it sits for30-45 minutes.
