Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just had my 02 Dodge Ram 4.7L engine
rebuilt from top to bottom. Shop did the
heads I performed the rest new crank
bearings, rod bearings, pistons, new oil
pump, timing chain etc. After truck idling
for 30 seconds with regular oil pressure
complete loss of pressure from sensor and
check gauges light comes on. I took out
new oil sensor and checked with Manuel
gauge and reads standard oil pressure 10
at idle and as you accelerate the oil
pressure climbs as it should. Went out
bought another brand new sensors figuring
that could be it same issue happens after
30 seconds of run at idle. This motor was
cleaned from top to bottom of all that white
oil sludge in pick up tube, new pan, new
PVC, cleaned the oil intake of that gunk.
Any ideas on why oil pressure is not
functioning even with new gauge and
rebuilt motor?

You may have cleaned all the gunk from the intake and other parts you can see but the small oil ports in the engine may still be clogged with gunk run a good engine flush through engine to get the gunk you can not see.

I would agree but entire engine was given a hot oil bath and polished. Thanks you though

The only other thing I can think of is the oil pump even though it's new maybe bad. Seen it happen many times with brand new parts right out of the box. Also make sure gasket between oil pump and motor is good and bolts are tight if not can cause a vapor lock effect and will not pump correctly.
