I was driving and started to hear a loud clicking noise raving with the engine. About a minute later there was a loud pop then the engine died and will not start now. It will turn over but not start.

Question type: General
When it turns over it sounds normal on the first two
revolution s then like the starter is skipping on the third then
back to the first two and then again on the bad one. What has
happened?

Sounds like the starter motor is going out. My ranger is doing the same thing so I just parked it and I am going to get a new one tonight. They are bout $100 new and about $50 for ones that have been rebuilt.
So it doesn't sound like a threw a rod or a broken timing belt? Thats what I was worried about

no, It sounds like the starter. Does it sound rough when it turns over?
I got a 1500 ram 2002 when I try start it came a one time pop sound like from under truck or muffin than I try start it won't start but crank spin what could it be ???
I just had the same problem with my 01 ram 1500. W/360. Driving and the same sound Henrycool mentioned. Will crank but won't start.... Was it your timing chain or what was it???
No... it sounds normal... going to try replacing coil tomorrow. Maybe that or crankshaft sensor?
Solved. Coil wire replacement. Bangs where my cat. Conv.
Jacob did you ever figure out this problem. Cause the same thing happened to me and im clueless
