I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. My blower quit running. I replaced the resister next to the blower and the blower its self. I still have nothing. The teat lamp shows power to the motor but nothing.

Some how you are missing a ground. Make sure there is a ground hooked up.

The test lamp shows a good ground and good hot wire.

Did you happen to test the blower motor to make sure it runs? And where exactly did you test for power? At the blower motor and across the ground right there at the plugin? If so and you say there is power there the blower motor should run. The power runs threw the resistor to the blower motor.

The blower runs off a battery. I tested the plug with a test light that plugs into the a/c outlet at the point it plugs into the fan. But is it enough power? Could something draw it down?

Was the test light bright? It should have turned at least, as voltage controls the speed of the fan. There may be a problem with the switch up on the dash. With the blower motor out and plugged in, try giving it a little help by spinning the squirrel cage to see if it works. You can tell the different voltages by the brightness of the test light.

My multi meter shows 12 v at the plug to the fan and shows ground. Direct power works the fan. But when you plug it in power goes away. The wires don't spark either when touched together.

Wires don't spark, you have some bare wires? 12 v at the plug for the fan across the power and ground in the plug? Fan works... power at the plugin for the fan... we are missing something here...bad connection? And tell me about the power going away when you plug it in, how do you know this?

I noticed the plug looked a little burnt so I replaced it. When I cut the old one off it touched the wires to look for spark. The volt meter shows 12v at the plug but when you plug it in the volt meter shows it dying off.

So where is the fan speed control at this point? It would die off if set on low or off.

When directly set to the battery the controls work fine but when properly hooked up the voltage drops to 0 on all settings.

I think you have a faulty resistor. This past summer I went threw 5 of them until the one held up.

What would cause them to go bad?

I found that an OEM resistor is a lot better than a aftermarket. I still have an aftermarket resistor in mine as they are warrantying it for 3 years. Stuck with it for that reason and it is a lot cheaper than a OEM part. It does not sound like you have anything going on to be causing faillier.
