Your question is misleading. You going from a 2wd 4.7 to a 4x4 with a 5.7, correct? Not just a 2wd to a 4x4. The bell housing and mounts would have to be the same as well. Are you swapping from the same full sized Ram or is one of the trucks a Dakota or Durango?

My apologies, the donor transmission was removed from a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 4.7L, 2wd, my truck is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.7L, 4wd. It appears that the bell housing is same and my only concern now is the output shaft (cone) assy, I am going to remove the 2wd straight back output shaft assy and then try to mate my "transfer" case assy in its place.

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT with the 4.7. The plugs for the 4.7 have a reach of 3/4". I believe my mechanic may have installed the plugs for the 5.7 hemi which are 1" in reach. My truck went into the shop perfectly fine and came out with the engine knocking. Is it possible that the 1/4" difference in length caused the pistons to strike the longer, incorrect plugs hence, that caused the knock? The shop admitted to me that the wrong plugs had been ordered. When asked if it was possible that they may have installed the incorrect ones, they told me that the thread size wasn't the same. Well, truth be told, it is the same size thread.
