Truck dies shifting into drive

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi RWD auto 150k miles

My truck dies whenever I shift from neutral into drive now. It used to happen
infrequently, but since I don't commute with it anymore, it's just sit there for a few
months. Now it simply won't go into drive.

More information:
* Seems like it stalls out at low engine RPMs, but is more clearly related to
shifting from neutral to drive
* Engine works in reverse just fine, no hesitation, no stalling at all
* Shifting from park to reverse seems to cause a bit of a shudder sometimes
* Just cleaned the Throttle Body out and reinstalled it, no change in behavior
* Just left the battery black unplugged for half an hour or so, let it sit in ACC for a
while before starting, no change

* I had the brake lines repaired and the engine oil pan replaced in response to a
check engine light a few months back. The check engine light came back and the
mechanic said it was because of a sensor problem or something
* Checking the error codes using the key method returns a P0700, which sounds
like the error code the mechanic initially described when replacing the oil
pan/sensor

Also, I filled the oil to level and checked the transmission fluid, so both should be fine.

I'm guessing that's a transmission thing that I'd have to pretty much take it to a shop to get fixed?

More information: I've identified 2 other, more useful error codes: P0871 - TFP Sensor and P2706 - Shift Solenoid F. Is this more likely a problem with the fluid, or with the sensor and solenoids themselves?
