I am wanting to replace the 4.7L Magnum in my 2004 Ram 1500 VIN N with a performance engine. I am not looking to race. I also want something that will install with as little mod as possible. Ideas?

hi they don't make much in performance wise for the 4.7...5.7yes but then you would have to change over the pcm and the engine bay harness
Thanks Mopar. The truth is that i dont know much when it comes to this. I was wanting to put a 5.7L in it but I have read in several places that Hemis are very costly to buy and costly to maintain. Is that true? What about the 4.7 H.O.?
What I want is more power and a roar coming from the pipes. What do you suggest?
Hi well unfortunately anything you do is gonna cost you money .....// like the saying goes speed costs money son how fast do you want to go .....// on the 4.7 you can put a cold air kit on it and I know mopar sells a cat backflow master dual exhaust system I will look and see if a performance PCM is available for it ...// I'm pretty sure that's the only difference between the reg 4.7 and the HO 4.7 is just programing belive it or not ...I know there are some after market programs that can be written to your pcm ...but with everything there are side effects ....false codes and drive issues ...also I'm sure you can do some trany stuff as well to make it shift different as well....I will get back to you soon on whats available
I just got done checking and there are no performance PCM available through mopar performance...and I was told that Jegs carries the same performance exhaust and cold air kits that mopar sells but cheaper...so the only thing I would suggest is finding a different truck to upgrade ...good luck

The difference between the 4.7 and 4.7ho is a better flowing intake, more agressive cam and better valve springs... If youre looking for more power go to www.airram.com They built their company around the 4.7. Im in the process of vamping up my 4.7 as well. Cold Air intake didnt add that much power off the bat but helped w the fuel consumption, catback and high flow cat same thing- but they'll matter more the more you build the motor. Race prepped Heads and a str9ng cam will make a large difference, as will changing gearing to 4.10 or 4.56 depending on your tire setup. Another good buy is the ho/ or post 2008 intake... they make a conversion so you can use it. Do that and you should eat a hemi
