04 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L stuck in limp mode

Asked by JW_Street_78 Nov 27, 2018 at 05:27 PM about the 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Quad Cab LB 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Won't go past 2nd gear, 35 mph, RPM's go up not
the speed. Been told it's the TCM, but the guy that
changed the fluid and filter reset the codes and
won't show code's again. Please help.

Hook up a bidirectional scanner that shows historical codes

Is the fluid level correct and the correct type? If so maybe you have a bad shift solenoid?

Just had my Brother n law hook up his Snap On and he said it's acting like the transmission is not there

Check the connector to the TCM to see if you have power and communication before condemning the TCM. Look for corrosion green crusties on connector and/or chewed wires or broken wires.
