Asked by campbell Feb 05, 2010 at 10:46 PM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just purchased an 05 ram 1500 4wd crew cab with the hemi. If the truck sits longer then ten minutes the truck will not start without me hitting the gas. Then it smells like the engine was flooded after it starts, all u smell is gas. The truck is not throwing any codes and no lights are coming on the battery is good and so is the starter. Once the truck is running it drives as if nothing is wrong. The dealership i bought it from is at a loss they just replaced the cam positioning sensor b/c that was there best geuss. They are standing behind the vehicle and are trying everything possible just a little annoying. If anyone else had this issue please help.

I am taking it back to them tomorrow to see what they can find. There are no aftermarket parts on the truck it is completely stock. As soon as I find something out I will post it for you.

Well i got the truck back and its fixed they replaced the crank sensor. The dodge dealer that the dealership sent it to said that is the symptoms of either a cam positioning sensor or a crank sensor starting to go bad it wont through a code cause it is still functioning they said if I let it go till one finally went the truck would lose power and sputter. I hope this helps.

WELL WE FINALLY GOT IT FIXED I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK FOR THE PAST 2 WEEKS AND NO TROUBLE. COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR. IT WAS THE NUMBER 8 ONE SO IF U RUN INTO IT AT WORK THIS IS A GOOD PLACE TO START
