Loss of Oil Pressure

Asked by RB3Z Dec 06, 2016 at 11:02 AM about the 2005 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2005 Ram 1500 4.7 Ltr. V8. After changing the valve cover gaskets the Oil
Pressure Gauge will drop after reaching temperature and coming to a
complete stop.  OP gauge will rise again after pressing on accelerator.  No
loud noises, or anything like that coming from engine. Truck will also cut off if
not given enough gas.

This seems to be a common problem with Dodges, there have been a lot of posts on this issue lately. It could be worn engine or oil pump or low oil level. I would check with Dodge to see it there is a technical bulletin on this issue or a recall.
