Your vehicle is possessed, Dude. First, get a priest, holy water, olde time bible, a bunch of candles, and have yourself an exorcism. Then, get some beers to celebrate your victory. Or, some wine if you fail and have to put Old Bessie down. Or.....check the ground wire on the starter and the ignition switch.

My new 2014 1500 did the same thing yesterday. Acted like it was turning over but never started. I thought I had sat on the key or sent a start message through Uconnect or something. I couldn't find anything on the web but I did notice that my weatherteck mat had pinned the gas so I just figured that had something to do with it.

Just had it happen to me. Tried to jump it yesterday but couldn't start it so took batter into shop to charge it. Put it in today and put on negative cable truck cranked over and started on its own. No keys in the ignition. Took off cable and finally shut off. Never in my 60 years ever seen this.

This may sound stupid to some people but if the truck owner has passed maybe he or she is with you in spirit starting it. I had a friend that died and one night his truck started by itself scared me and the 2 other people I was in. We said maybe he's here in spirit and in the truck. He wanted to say he's still with us. We never found out what caused the truck to start itself. The new owner said the same thing about 2 months later.

Just happened to my in 05 Dodge Ram, putting on negative terminal, truck started on its own. Took key out and kept running. Had to disconnect the negative cable to kill engine. Wtf is going on?!?!?

My 05 completely started itself yesterday. It had the parking lights on, and fog lights, both require manually turning them on. Weirdest thing..it was just sitting there running with the lights on. Ignition was off, keys not even close to it. I tried to turn it over..nothing..kept running, turned it to ACC..still nothing. So I threw it in reverse with my foot on the brake..it finally shut off

I have an 03 Ram 1500. Battery died and when trying to jump start, with no key in the ignition, the engine would crank and start. All dash lights would come on. Stayed the same after putting in the key and trying all key positions. I replaced the ignition switch and this fixed the problem. $40.00 part- #20 and #25 Torx driver are the only tools needed. 20 minutes to fix.
