Can i swap out a 2002 ecm/pcm to a 2005 dodge ram 1500 the 2002 is a 16 tooth my 2005 is a 32 tooth

Save yourself a lot of grief and get the correct ECU.
Dose that mean getting a new motor ? I just bought this one ?
The PCM has to match the motor and all it's parameters. If you swap the PCM it will need reflashed anyhow as it's part of the anti-theft system.
That old motor in your truck will probably never pass smog inspection.
If i get the pcm/ecu from the 2002 truck and put it in my 2005 will it work ???

Did you find a easy way to fix it because I’m having same issue
When you are going to change an engine out just look at ecm on passenger side fire wall if you see 3 plugs on ecu and another ecu looking thing next to it it's a16 tooth ring but if you see ecu and it has 4 plugs going in it it's a 32 tooth ring it's so easy to look at them first
4.7 early 2002. 4.7 20021/2 and up
Sorry 2002 1/5 year and up

My truck is a 2004 ram 4.7 the computer has 3 plugs and the crank sensor and cam sensor has 3 wires, so I get a engine from a 2002 ram with same exactly description as my 2004, ended up with a wrong engine, if I switch computer will work?
You have to match the part numbers on the ecu manufacture s change motors sensors different timing possibly the number it on the ecm.
No but you can get one aT https://www.fs1inc.com/dodge-ram-truck-pcm-ecm-ecu-control- module
