Brakes over heating

if the trailer has brakes and you have a decent brake controller the controller should have a small lever on the bottom or side that you can pull or squeeze to engage the trailer brakes harder, if it doesnt have trailer brakes, you can install them, also your truck should have a tow/haul, overdrive on off button on the shifter, when you engage one of these two things it should make a noticable thump in the truck and youll very slowly begin to slow down. remember if all else fails theres low gear dont be afraid to use it
Thanks about the advice to use the lever on the trailer brakes controller. I'll try that.
just dont pull it to hard and dont stand on it because just like the brakes on the truck the trailer brakes overheat to.
Don't "ride" the brakes to maintain speed but allow the rig to speed up, then slow back down. Cycling the brakes like this allows them to cool between uses. Also the advice on the overdrive switch is right on. Just dont let the engine overspeed before braking back down slow. Be sure your trailer brake ccontroller is properly adjusted to compensate for the trailer weight and you'll have miles of trouble free downhill coasting.
