Question type: Maintenance & Repair
2006 Dodge Ram the cv axle contexts to the differential
has "play" movement I can move it around about 1/8"
roughly. When in 4wd I can feel vibration in the front end
should there be play in there or should it be tight?

No, should be a nice slip fit, not sure what wears but should pull it out and look.
I e replaced the cv shaft already. It was a pain to get the cv out the "connecting pin" came out with the old one I put it back In just fine didn't want to come back out afterwards.. Is this a bearing issue??? Or something else?
Yep, everything there should run true with no play. Like checking a wheel bearing, no play smooth & true.
I'll give replacing the bearings a shot thanks for the help
Now a differential is precisely assembled with clearance specs. and torque specs. Investigate this matter before you tear into it.
Should be tight, splines where stub shaft and axle meet rust and strip out. Replace axle, stub shaft and axle seal. Inspect bearings while its apart.
I got a rattling noise coming from my front end of my 2006 dodge power wagon 2500. I've checked the ball joints and u- jounts. Everything looks tight. But I have a far but play in my front differential when I move the axle by hand. Any ideas what it might be?
