the VP44 doesnt have a shut off solenoid like the P7100, do you have the truck modified?

is it a 24V or a 12V diesel? The pump and fuel solenoid is different on them. 1998 had both 12v and 24v check your ground on the fuel shutoff solenoid, if the positive lead is not making contact it would cause the solenoid to open and close. This solenoid allows fuel to pass through when it has power. With no power it will shut off. Are there any mods to the truck/fuel system? To go farther i would need to know the 12V or 24V question. If you could offer a picture of the pump, (front drivers side of engine near top)(12V not sure on 24V) I may be able to shed some light into this. Do keep in mind the manual fuel starve lever, and consult your owners manual as to where it is, if you need to use it. 12V it is drivers side below the injector pump.
