Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok got a 2003 2500 5.9 changed injection pump and
injectors and fuel filter ..... had trouble getting it going
again and it ran rough as hell huge clouds of white and
black smoke at first then went to black.... sounds like its
idling fine now until you throttle up starts clattering what
should i check .... reason everything was changed was
due to excessive water in fuel i pumped bout 30 gallons of
straight water from the tank before repairs

Are you sure you got all the water out? Water is hard as hell on injectors.

Well we cleaned the tank filled it with clean diesel and ran it a good 30 minutes to an hour before taking all injectors out , and as far as pump timing the gear Fell forward when installing the pump so i just put it in the shaft as pump was put rest of the way in....

Ok got the front cover off this morning and turns out the gear for the pump did rotate atleast 14-15 teeth away from where it needed to be.... so. Now its running as it should thanks again

Thanks now just gotta figure out why i have way more smoke than before ... blows smoke for more than a 1/4 mile and when u barely touch the throttle
