Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i got a 2000 chevy 2 door blazer, 4.3 lt v6 only 2 wheel drive. i just replaced the alternator cause it was putting out about 16 volts. and the new part i just put in is putting around 14 or 15 volts, according to the volt gauge. i was wondering what is the correct output that should be coming out. also  do i have to replace the voltage regulator

The volt gauge isn't exactly accurate in many cases, grab a multimeter and connect it across the battery while at idle and tell us what the volt reading is. And I may be mistaken, but I believe the 4.3 vortec, and most modern cars for that matter, have solid-state volt regulators internal to the alternator

not all of the regulators are internal some are still external. A good volt reading with a multimeter will be beneficial, but by voltmeter in the cluster it souns about normal with the new Alt.
