06 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7ltr Hemi

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Problem:  battery drains at temps
below teens. Will not start. Turns
over a little slow normally. Batt 1 yr
old, 880 cca, just tested & charged .
Installed in truck. Still woulf not start,
showed no charge on dash. Ran
jumpers for 20+ min before would
start. Dash guage will only read
50%+.  Tested batt: Voltage reads:
14:unhooked, 12+: hooked, not
running w/ lights & radio on. All
cables look good/tight.  Any help
appreciatted. Thanks

you say you bench tested the battery with a load tester (vat 40 or a midtronics tester) and it shows good CCA ... it sounds like an internally shorted battery ..I have seen battery's show good voltage but very little amperage ...and also a shorted battery will not take a jump either from another vehicle ...the best test is to leave the battery in and disconnect it from the vehicle and test it cold....if you don't think its the battery try taking your jumper cables and giving the battery a different ground ....a bad cable or chassis ground might be what your chasing ...also did you check for draws draining the battery
