no the only thing youre doing is ruining your lift pump injection pump and injectors. Stop now, drop the tank, possibly buy a new one if need be, and blow your lines out. The fuel transfer pump on Cummins equipped trucks from 98-02 is a very very important unit in the vehicle. With out it your VP44 injection pump will overheat and youll have no timing advance which means a dead pedal.
I believe that is good answer, fuel pump was replaced w/ Super suck Rapter pump mid frame of truck, will blowing the line's be enough and is special attention to fuel pump needed. J D
well p0216 is the "death code". a P0216 essentially says that the VP44 injection pump is no longer to achieve throttle advance due to either A. being starved for adequate fuel and over heating the PMD, or B. the diaphragm inside the pump is ruptured due to contamination. once it throws this code you may be able to clear it but its time to save up for a new pump the last one I installed was 2000 with parts and labor. I would drop your tank dump every thing out, and get an industrial cleaner to clean it with.
once you clean the tank out. remove your fuel filter, cut your supply and return lines loose at the pump, and blow from there. leaving your lines disconnected and the fuel filter out reinstall your tank, pour some new diesel into it, and pump it through the system.
