rpms rev high but no acceleration

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I sprayed wd40 on pulleys, which I believe I
shouldn't have. Now when I try to
accelerate, rpms rev high but no
acceleration. If I let off the throttle, it will
slowly but surely accelerate, once I surpass
30mph. The car accelerates fine. I believe
there belt is slipping but I'm not sure what
else would cause such symptoms. It started
doing it right after I sprayed the pulleys.
This is our only vehicle. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Please explain why you decided to spray the pulleys in the first place? How was your car running before you did that?
The pulleys were loud. I sprayed just a squirt in each pulley. The car ran excellent before I did this. Now between 25-35mph, it doesn't want to accelerate but rpms rev high. "As if I'm in neutral" if I feather the pedal and surpass 40mph, it will accelerate correctly. Transmission doesn't slip or jerk in any way.
Will do. Thank you very much for your input on the issue. Someone had said my tranny is slipping but since it started happening immediately after I sprayed the pulleys. I figured it has to be the belt or pulleys slipping due to lubricant. Thank you again. I will let you know how it goes after I clean the pulleys.
I cleaned the pulleys. They weren't oily/greasy at all. But I hit them with brake cleaner anyways. Belt in good shape also. Air filter is clean and MAF looked slightly dirty. Could this be the culprit??? Like I said before. It only does it between 25- 35mph.
