2003 camry won't start.

My 2003 camry won't start. I have replaced the battery with a new one. Still no crank
sound. Reading around suggested that I should see the security key on the dashboard,
which I don't. What has happened? I tried to follow the last post in this thread but did
not help: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-d292_ds542695

Has anyone suggested a bad starter? If possible, jack up your car and get it on jack stands. Have someone turn the key and hold it ON like they're trying to start the car. Locate the starter and hit it with a hammer while the key is being held. If the car suddenly begins to crank over, you know that your starter is bad. How did your car suddenly not start? Is this a Camry with anti- theft? Did you take out the old battery, then all of the trouble started?
Thanks for the response. I got it fixed two days ago. The mechanic did exactly what you said above. He looked at couple of obvious things and then jacked up the car, asked me to start it while he hit the starter with a hammer. And the car started. He said that it could run fine after that or die again few days later. I asked him to fix it - $130 for the parts, and $260 for the labor. Why it stopped all of a sudden - don't know. The car does have an anti-theft device. I took out the old battery (was not really old - April 2013) and replaced it with a new one, but that did not help. The hammer did.
Does your alarm working,
2002 toyota camry won't start.changed relay, and the starter . still won't even turn over
I have the same issue going on right now with a 2003 Toyota Camry, all of the lights come on, even the radio, but no crank. I even tried it in Neutral, but no luck with that. I will try the hammer tonight, is there a way to reach it from above? It's currently stranded in a parking lot and I can't really jack it up there.
