Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1999 C230 Kompressor has the SRS light on-off [mostly on]. I don't notice
a change in performance and have no clue why the light is on. Help, pls!

This usually caused by a dirty or faulty seat belt buckle, have them cleaned for dirt and other objects in them causing a faulty SRS light you are seeing.

My thoughts are possible clock spring issue or seat sensor if you have that. Whatever the outcome is only a Star Diagnostic scanner would clear that pending code. Good Luck!

I have had the same problem hit me tonight. Have you learned what caused the light? If so please tell me so I know where to focus my attention.

SRS light is for the Safety Restraint System which includes the airbags. I changed out the window bracket assembly and had to remove a ground from the side airbag in order to get the new bracket into the door. If you don't put the ground back on, the SRS light will come on and stay on. If it is flickering then possibly you have a ground going back on one or more of your airbags.
