If it is the O2 sensor, it probably won't be operating too smoothly. One of the main traits of a bad O2 sensor is a rough idle. There is a chance that you could damage your catalytic convertor, so accelerate slowly. And not to mention your gas mileage will be lower until you get it fixed. But it doesn't seem to be a big risk if you drive it around for a little while you wait to get it fixed. You *can* drive with your check engine light on until it starts blinking. If it starts blinking, pull over immediately. I would shop around to find the O2 sensor because that sounds on the higher end of prices for them. I think you could find a much better deal. Hope this helps!
If the bad O2 sensor is causing a rich fuel mixture, then the catalytic converter could be damaged. Get it repaired ASAP.
Just had the sensors replaced. $250 total. The check engine light came back on again the next day. Taking it in today to find out the issue. I'm thinking it's catalytic converter related. We bought the car from a relative who was original owner. The car runs awesome otherwise. It just needs the recommended 100,000 mile tune up next. What did you find out about your car? We have a notification pop up for good not latched (but it is) and left front turn signal. Which the socket is cracked. Have to remove front bumper to replace. Other then that, it's a great little car. Which by the way, I have the exact color as well.
My O2 sensor was replaced and engine light came back on. Why?
I have a 2014 C250. Why would my engine light come back on after the o2 sensor was replaced?
