"S-C" switch at the top of the automatic transmission shift

Question type: General
My wife bought a 2004 C240 but no user manual. Does anyone know what is the "S-C" switch for? It is located at the top of the automatic transmission gear shift.

the "S-C" switch refers to the transmission mode...either "Sport" which starts in 1st gear from a stop or "Comfort" which starts in 2nd gear from a stop. I prefer the "comfort" mode because I find the ride to be softer and more like a larger sedan; however, it uses a bit more gas I think.
S is for sports mode and the transmission will start from 1st gear. C mode is for comfort mode transmission will starts from 2 gear from dead stop, it is good for rainy and snowy days so you don't slip at initial aceleration
I have a 3.2 amg c class and it's stuck in sports mode how do I reset it to normal mode
Under the front passenger upper carpet there is transmission control module. See if there is a transmission oil contaminated the module. When you pull back the carpet you will see a foam and a metal cover that has 3. 10mm nuts. Remove it and you will see the control module. You can wish it with a parts clean, but make sure the control module is disconnected . You can pull away the plastic cover that is around the module. Also, clean the connector. By disconnecting and connecting the control module you will reset the module. Is there I see oil inside the control module and the connector, that is because on the transmission there is the electronics connector that is leaking internally. You can replace it. Get the part from the dealer and that will stop leaking. Let's hope it didn't damage any components. Also, the shifter assembly could be bad as well. See if the button is stuck by a coffee or soda spill inside the shifter assembly

Program mode selector switch S - Sport: For standard driving C - Comfort" For comfort driving Select C for comfort driving: The vehicle starts out in second gear (both forward and reverse) for gentler starts. This does not apply if full throttle is applied or gear range 1 is selected. Traction and driving stability are improved on icy roads. Upshifts occur earlier even when you give more gas. The engine then operates at lower rpms and the wheels are less likely to spin. The power transmission ratio for gear selector lever position R changes depending on the program mode selected (S orC).
