Trunk Lid Button Emergency Unlock

Asked by MDX_199352 Mar 01, 2017 at 02:29 PM about the 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 Cabriolet

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trunk lid emergency unlock button will not unlock doors, fuel filler flap, or trunk. (As described on page 41 of Operator's Manual.)

I know because following the instructions on page 41 or the Operator's Manual, there is no door or fuel flap lock response. What I want to know is if there is a way to fix or to re-synchronize to overcome this problem.

assuming the battery isn't dead, and you are not using the reserve electronic key, try this: p.29 Note: If the vehicle cannot be locked or unlocked by pressing the transmit button, then it may be necessary to change the batteries in the electronic main key (if ok, battery check lamp in electronic main key will light briefly when pressing transmit button) or to synchronize the remote control, see pages 264 and 266.

Both electronic keys work just fine. Therefore both keys are synchronized. The central locking button next to the 4-way emergency flasher button works the locks just fine. The 12-volt battery voltage is up to snuff. There is power to the trunk lid emergency unlock button because is illuminated. The button illumination blinks as it should right after the trunk lid is opened.
