Anti theft won’t shut off Trunk won’t open

Asked by jdshinall3 Oct 31, 2021 at 02:03 PM about the 2002 Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 Cabriolet

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I went out to open my car as usual and the Fob didn’t open the doors- I used
the metal key in the fob to open the door and an alarm started screeching-
lights going off.  I drove the car about 2 miles and it would periodically go off- I
came home with new FOB batteries and changed them out but cannot get it to
function properly to disable the tow/anti theft .  The buttons inside won’t work,
and the metal key will not open the trunk to allow me access to disconnect the
battery for 10 min to see if it corrects.  It’s an 02 clk 430 Convertible - I’m at
my wits end because I can drive the car but feel like an unmarked cop car on
my way to a call - and unfortunately unemployed and don’t have a lot to spend
at the dealer.

I out the key in and turned it,in without cracking the car and let it sit for about 15 minutes - it reset the anti theft and it reset my convertible top that was stuck in a cycle - all has been well since. Hope this helps someone else.

I put the key in and turned it on but did not crank the car and let it sit for like 15 minutes and it reset the antitheft and my convertible top that I’ve been stuck in a cycle all has been well since I hope this helps someone
