I believe that most or all Mercedes need a high level scan tool to tell car that there is a new battery. These cars are extreme when repairing. Loss of power affects the computer.

if only the ignition switch doesn't work, it could be (hold on) the ignition switch. Did it ever work? If you could start the car before, but not now and everything else is OK, it's probably the switch. If other things are don't work be sure voltage is correct and nothing is blown. Use a scan tool to help troubleshoot

In storage during Winter, battery went dead. Charged it, took a 40 mile drive, parked overnight. Battery went dead, windows don't work, ignition locked up. Charged the battery, lights work, ignition says "remove key."
