The flasher is in the four way flasher switch. If your having problems with it I think there was a recall on the flasher for the 2000 Malibu. You can check with your VIN# at: http://www.vehicleidentificationnumber.com/carfax2.html If there was a recall then call a Chevy dealership and they should replace it.

I was sitting in my 2008 Malibu today with the engine off and the keys out of the ignition when suddenly the heater turned on. I started the car and then shut it off again and the blower stopped.
