Mercedes Benz E-Class 320, year 2005

Asked by Merz55 Aug 01, 2013 at 02:03 PM about the 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E 320

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Mercedes E-320, year 2005 has a problem with locking the global locking. All knobs in the doors move down exept for the one on the driver side. This one makes a multiple clicking noise and stays unlocked. I have to go to the passenger side and press unlock and then press lock to make also the driver side lock move in the down position. When I accidentally open the driver door when it supposed to be locked, the alarm sounds like a wounded sick animal! Nothing like an alarm chasing away anybody.
Thank you for your help. Ursula

So if the knob moves up and down fast and sounds like a machine gun what usually happens is the rubber boot that is over the door locking rod is collapsed and making it so it will not lock. But if it will lock with another button the actuator in the door may need to be replaced.
