why does the exhaust smell like gas

It may have unburnt, Raw gasoline in the exhaust..The fuel mixture is not correct. Needs to be tuned. A check of everything after 16 years its ready.

I have a Chevy suburban 1500 when I turn it on in the morning it turned perfect on but couple of minutes when you trying to turn it on again it smell like gas
