Check the compressor clutch and the air hoses for leaks. Do you have any boost at all?

Most common problem is low Freon gas but can also be a blown fuse, bad clutch bad wiring, broken v belt

Check the MAF / Air mass meter: if this goes out of range (which it will, because it gets sprayed with oil when the crankcase breathers get clogged over time), the ME unit will cut out the supercharger. Sometimes the fault is intermittent, sometimes it is permanent. Try cleaning the MAF or replace it with an original Pre- facelift = Bosch, Facelift = VDO-Siemens) if the unit is old or from any other brand. Those cheap imitations can cause similar problems.
