Tachometer stopped working

Check to make sure speedometer cables are connected and not damaged, there should be 2 cables when you open the hood, one coming from transmission to cruise control unit and one from cruise control to speedometer

Thanks for your response. However, the speedometer works fine. It's the tachometer----while idling after startup, it just stopped working. I checked for a blown fuse, but all were good. I may have to check the sensor on the transmission ?
Sorry, misread it. The tach sensror in on the engine not on the transmission
It's facing the throttle body intake by filter hose

Thanks again---as it turns out, after rechecking the fuses, I did find a blown 10A. Replaced it, and voila !!

Update---turns out the short was in the backup light switch. I had put in a new fuse and it blew the first time I put the car in reverse (standard tranny). Since fuses are cheap, I did it twice more. both times blowing the new fuses. Disconnected the switch, put in a 3rd fuse, tranny in reverse again, and again, and again, etc. I'm a happy camper :)
