I love my little '88 Corolla FX 2-door hatchback, but now the windshield wiper linkage is broken, and I can't find a replacement part locally (Sacramento CA) or online. Any suggestions?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm pretty ignorant about cars myself, but the mechanic says the windshield wiper motor is fine, it's just the linkage that needs replacing.  I've tried everybody including the Toyota dealers, and they all say they don't have it, it's too old.  I need my windshield wipers, this is the rainy season.  What do I do?
