1999 Chevy Blazer

Asked by Sergio Jan 23, 2019 at 02:20 PM about the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer LS 4-Door RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer, and it runs great. Lately
I've been having problems where I try to start the
car for the first time in that day, and it won't turn
over completely. It cranks fine, and sounds normal
(as it should when it turns on), but it takes a few
tries. If I apply the gas, It will turn over for a second
and shut back off, then finally it turn over
completely. The battery is new, and so is the
alternator. What could it be?

It appears you have the spider fuel system. That system is noted for problems. Check fuel pressure, key on engine off, 60--66 psi. After it starts it may run with less pressure. In the past have seen service bulletin, problems with first start of the morning after vehicle sits overnight. After that it starts fine the rest of the day, then after it sits overnight, same problem in the morning. The problem was fuel poppets sticking, the fix was a cleaning procedure. The procedure I saw was a shop procedure. Of course, there could be other issues.
