Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son has a 1987 Celica Gt that when you let off the gas and the rpm drop down, the engine keeps dying. We recently changed the Distributor Cap, Rotor, Plugs and plug wires because that is what the mechanic was recommending. Still same issue, ideas?
