BMW X5 Electrical

Asked by locksdontwork Nov 28, 2016 at 08:47 PM about the 2003 BMW X5 3.0i AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 3 months ago my 2003 X5 security
alarm started going off randomly for no
apparent reason.  The only way to keep it
from happening was to leave the car
unlocked.  Then about 6 wks ago my fob
quit working on the door locks and interior
lights, while continues to work on the rear
hatch lift gate.  Interestingly the interior
hatch release does not work.  The key
worked to lock or unlock the car for about 3
wks but will no longer work.  Neither does
the interior lock or unlock button work.  Is
this a problem with my fob battery, a fuse, a
relay, or a circuit board?  I have had no
issues with starting or driving.

the General module has a high failure rate. It controls the door locks the windows and the lights and believe the key fob is as well. it's located under the passenger side of the dash. above your feet. I new module need programmed. a used one will work if bought from the same car with the same opinions
