I live in California and I'm shopping for an older BMW Z3. The cars I am
interested in seem to be on the east coast. What's the worst case scenario if
it doesn't pass smog? Should I just wait to find one locally? Thanks

I put that in a separate window only to make it easy to hyperlink. It explains a lot, most of your concerns. But is the car you seek really that hard to find? If it has the factory Calif emissions package will make your search much easier
Thank you for the link to the dmv, Fordnut. Im so specific on the color and only want a manual transmission and my price is specific. I've been looking for months and all the cars that meet my criteria are out of state so far. I am wondering if anyone knows what may come up once the smog check is done and the most I will end up paying to repair the car. I need to factor this unknown possible cost into the price but I don't know how much to figure in. Thank you yo anyone who could answer.
I have a 2002 BMW Roadster 3.0 manual for sale. If you are still looking. http://cargur.us/5bC3P
