2001 vw cabrio no start possible fuel pump or fuel pump relay

Asked by BigJay64 Feb 18, 2009 at 01:39 AM about the 2001 Volkswagen Cabrio 2 Dr GLS Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

I have a 2001 VW Cabrio, 2.OL gas motor.

Motor started to stumble here and there but always managed to re-start if needed.

Check engine light has always been on, finally checked OBD codes...

Cam Sensor code was revealed.

Bought a used distributor, installed it after locating TDC, car will now not
start at all!

Checked fuel pump, it "buzzes" for a few seconds when the key is turned to "on" position.

Assuming it is functioning as there has never been any issues with the fuel
pump in the past.

Also pulled and checked all (4) spark plugs...

All are receiving spark!!!

Did not try spraying fluid in throat to see if motor will fire.

Just wondering if there might be something I have overlooked?

Possible faulty fuel pump?

Fuel pump relay?

Did I somehow buy a bad used distributor?

Please help!

Thanks,
J.

Are you certain that you .changed the correct sensor?look next to the front cover for the timing belt,is there a three wire black plug next to the cover?if so that is your cam sensor. If there is no plug then yes there is a very good possibility of a bad used distributor.
