Hi, a warning light has appeared on my dash today. It is red and it looks like a thermometre with 2 wavy lines underneath. It flashes intermittently when it is lighting, although I hav just turned the engine off and then back on and it isnt on. Any ideas - i am just about to check water and oil levels.
Many thanks

Sounds like oil. The pic sounds familiar plus that's the only one that would flicker like that.
I doubt if that's an oil light. Sounds more like a temperature warning light. Refer to your owners manual and identify the indicator specifically. It isn't lighting without a valid reason.
i just wana say that if you really catn tell the difference between a temp warning light and oil light or various other simple things then maybe you should consider a bus pass not a drivers lisence
Its not your oil. I made the same mistake, I went and got it changed with out even double checking lol. But yea thats happened to me a few times, and it is the thermometer. But that was when I used to live a cold climate, it just needed to warm up. Maye this is the case for you. Otherwise check your coolant and make sure its at the right level. :)
ya if its a temp light might be low coolant level. if the coolant level is fine i would go service it immediately. lotta shit that can get worse if u dont fix it
