Timing belt on 2003 Golf

first you nead to look at your owners books that will tell you when you have to change the timing belt as for the shocker / stuts bounce hard on each corner of the car it should be firm and not bouncy

a car with 93,000 miles on it is worth putting a timing belt in. a 90$ timing belt kit is a lot cheaper than a 3,000 motor. some cars it wouldnt matter if the timing belt breaks but almost all vw's have what they call interference motors. so that means if the timing belt breaks the motor is pretty much junk and will be in need of a total rebuild. as for the shocks and struts< put your knee on the bumper in each corner of the car and bounce it up and down. when you stop if the car continues to bounce more than 3 times you need new ones, or if they are leaking fluid.

well the garage should have changed the timing belt when they changed the water pump , as the water pump runs off the timing belt and they would of had to take the timing belt off to change the water pump , thus meaning more sense putting a new belt bk rather than the old leaving less risk of it snapping , if that is the case id get it changed asap b4 it does , like chris says if it snaps the engine will b buggered and very expensive and if the shock absorbers r gone or going when u go over a bump the suspension will bottom out
