Timing belt

Asked by Conley Jun 05, 2016 at 07:35 PM about the 2003 Volkswagen Golf GL 2.0

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put a new timing belt on,  i thought i may have moved the
crank and messed up timing and bent valves.  I did a
compression test and im getting 160 + lbs to each cylinder.
I redid the timing and got it lined up and the engine still
doesent run right. Low idle is not too bad. But when reving
it shutters and has no power when moving.  Im stumped.
Could i be 1 or 2 teeth off still, even though the timing
marks look ok?

If it was running fine before the repair than it is likely something you did or didn't do. If the timing marks look okay check to see if a sensor or something electrical is unplugged.

Oh, it will be down on power if the timing is a tooth or 2 off.
