How to replace the driver side control arm

Asked by 911infome May 04, 2018 at 02:33 PM about the 2003 Volkswagen Golf GL 2.0 Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was in the process of replacing the control arms on my 2003 VW Golf 2.0, but I ran into a problem! The driver side front bolt has the transmission oil pan in the way! What must I do to clear space to remove the bolt?

Support the engine and tranny with a jack. Unbolt the lower engine mount (two 13mm bolts) pull the whole engine and tranny forward by the transmission pan. Might be a good idea to have someone help with this. Good luck
