Can the EPC light come on because of a bad battery alone?

I thought I needed a new battery because I have to jump start my car to get it to run if I
don't start it every few hours. Today the EPC light came on in my car. It is the only light
that is on and I don't notice any other issues besides the battery draining. I was going to
go get a new battery tomorrow but unsure if it is the battery now.

as far as I am aware a bad battery wont cause that light to come on. Go to a parts store like pep boys or autozone and ask them to read the OBDII codes with their scan tool, should be free for them to do it, and that will tell you what's actually going on with the car.
EPC just means "Electronic Power Control," could be like....anything. Step one is replace the battery, since it's bad anyway. Have AutoZone read the code when you pick the battery up and make sure it's not something serious. If the new battery dies, your alternator is gone.
more than likely your crankshaft sensor/speed sensor is shot.....easy fix
Ive had cars come in with the epc light on, and a low battery =. Once we changed the battery and cleared the code it never came back. So a low battery can cause your epc light to come on.
Yeah my Passat B7 (Euro/Aus) had an EPC issue and the car was struggling to start. I'd have to force the key-fob for about 7 seconds. However, after road- side assist came and replaced the battery, it was found that my old battery had a broken cell. Upon replacing the battery the EPC warning had disappeared. I know its a different car but thought the issue may be similar.
My epc light came on and the car wouldn’t start afterwards could it be my alternator or my chain belt. I gave a 2008 vw beetle

Had an 51 plate E Class 2.8 petrol after I’d spent nearly £500 the garage had the neck to ask me rebook the car in , I’d watched the diagnostic data from the results it pointed to the relay switch as I’m no mechanic , my suspicion is very much concerning as it’s now got the esp off line will be buying a Varta battery though they cost neatly £195 ,
If you get the EPC light and the check engine light with a rough idle it is likely that either your Throttle Body has failed or your throttle pedal. (One other thing it could be is the Cruise control failing as well) If the vehicle is in limp mode or feels like it has no power I would start with the TB. Hope this helps!
A flat battery could be throwing off the voltage readings to the sensors, so yes it can cause the light to come on. If the battery fails a load test then replacing it could cause the light issue to go away if no other codes are coming up and being logged

rough idle on startup 1.maf sensor wire clean with spray 2. clean throttlebody with spray 3.change aircleaner

Throttle Body requires a certain minimum voltage to correctly activate on start-up. If the battery is weak / dying, the car may start, but you can have issues where the throttle does not respond to the pedal, as it has not been "activated" correctly during start-up. The EPC light will show up (in VW's). This can temporarily be overcome by kickstarting, as you can get the car moving and then switch off and kick start it with that motion. This should get the throttle body working (and the pedal activated), but the EPC light will remain on. If you do this enough times, the battery may get charged to enough voltage to overcome the minimum that the throttle body requires to activate. This will remove the EPC light and will also prevent having to kick start after starting.
