Humming noise and slight vibration

sounds like a bad wheel bearing probably the left front. they are pressed in bearings so its not a do it yourselfer kinda job unless you know a lot about cars. and you need a bearing press (specialty tool).

what you can do is jack the car up with a regular jack preferably a four wheeled floor jack and grad the wheel and shake it well you want to get a grip because your checking to see if the wheel has 'play' in it side to side is tie rod end up and down is balljoint and the wheel bearing is when the wheel has play all around also make sure there are no noises when you shake down the wheel that is the obvious problem or somthing else wrong.its really not hard to check but depending on the parts and labor involved its definately wont be that easy to fix

yes i agree, but if you shake it down then you narrow down the problem

Shaking only works sometimes like if the bearing is really bad, but if it is that bad you can spin it in the air and hear it, we do a lot of vw bearings at the shop I work at and usually do both sides cause they go in pairs.

absolutly right best in pairs and there are lots of ways to check a bearing.
